- The biomethane plant, slated for completion by the end of 2025, will begin construction this year, significantly advancing eco-friendly waste processing and recycling into biomethane and fertilizer. With an investment of approximately €25 million, the new biomethane plant will create around ten new jobs in Viljandi County.
Biomethane, a domestic biofuel derived from renewable sources, contains over 95% methane (CH₄) and is equivalent to natural gas, allowing it to be used in the same applications. The plant’s operation will contribute to reducing fossil fuel consumption in Estonia, supporting climate targets, and transforming agricultural waste into valuable products. This green fuel, produced from waste, promotes circular economy goals by adding value to waste streams, ensuring biomethane for gas consumers, and providing fertilizer for agriculture.
Bioforce Production is leading the project, overseeing its execution to meet environmental, community, and investor expectations.
